Got my own back

Post by Nimbus »

So I'm in traffic today, and I'm running late. Pole position at the lights, with a 3 into 1 merge just up the road.
I give it the typical nimbus launch, (I don't fk around, ask my clutch  ), I was smoked by a middle aged woman in one of these huge bastards of a 4x4..
Image
Bloody thing apparently makes 250kw+ and 850(!!)nm of torque at 2000rpm! Twin turbo diesel v10..
One of my mates also has a 6.1L HEMI jeep! What is the world coming to?! These things are like rocket powered houses

Just thought I'd share..

EDIT; whoops, thought I was in off topic..

Oh, yeah that made no sense..
It's usually the unassuming nimbusile scooting off the lights into the merge and upsetting falcodores... Well, this time it happened to me. The thing didn't look quick..

My G200W Florian did the Jeeps, but that was pre-V10 Hitler Revengers.
850Nm! Farrrkk. Maybe if it weighed over 2 tonnes? (G200W 300Nm@2k, 383Nm@3k in ~1 tonne. But now that I have the pistons for over 180kW (it was only 100kW before)....

But let's face it - where was their style!!?

Haha, and they puff out plumes of smoke too.
I've seen them a lot over here in WA. Their arse end digs down and the nose is skywards when they boogy.
Theyre not good at being a 4wd, nor as a sports car, (295/35R21's, 2.6 tonnes. 0-100 in 6.8sec) so what is it?

Hahaha

I used to have an old XM Falcon wagon, 144ci low compression engine, three on the tree and it launched like nothing else off the lights. Always first to the opposite side of the intersection but after that it was history.

You're spot on EVL, I thought it was about to pull a wheelstand!
Now my mates Jeep SRT8 cherokee thing.. That hauls. Stomp the pedal and it chirps all 4 20" run flats at 60clicks. It sounds like a HEMI too! It must weigh 3 ton, but hell it can move!
I asked him why he bought it. His reply, "Coz I can. It's great for showing up these kids in their musical boxes (hondas  ). "

Hahaha, this all sounds too familiar. I hate those too-much-money imitation 4x4s with giant donks, european styling and no real engineering direction.

Yeah I'm definitely a traffic light/merge warrior too. I drive a shitbox old '83 Laser that's copped some spraypaint from friends and even the gf... And of course any car nut knows the exact delay between the opposing lights going red and yours going green, clutch at biting point and BAM, a $150 piece of s*#t just got the merge on their $50k piece of Eurotrash. Surprise attack

The Gemini sleeper used to do wonders on those traffic merges and most of those $50k plus exotics don't want to risk their paintwork.

turbo diesel is the imminet future (as well as electric/hybrid)

say bye bye to the petrol motor....the development of such has reached it's cresendo, there are bugger all gains to be had

our next vehicle will be a TD, and will smoke any gem/car i have owned to date

(bar the rotor/ZZ or TG with worked g200)

enjoy the gems while it lasts....i certainly am :D :D :D

Stick a heap of batteries and an electric 9" Netgain motor and enjoy your Gemini forever.
Anyone interested, google, "white zombie". I think its doing mid 11's for the 1/4 mile now. Its a 30 year old Datsun 1200. Fastest road registed EV (electric vehicle).

Gemi Coupe wrote:with respect to white zombie, its reasonably easy to make a lightweight electric car go really fast over very short distances.
they only need to consider the distance of short runs, so they can afford to pump out as much batt power into the motor as possible.
For that same car to get 200+kms range in its setup now, it'd be no faster then your average modern city commuter.
It's like a drag car running no radiator. Sure it pulls a squillion g's, and goes from 0 -100 in nothing. But lets see it sit for a cycle of lights in peak hour traffic..
While this is still only early days for EV's, I don't see a 2.5ton electric racing SUV happening anytime soon..

EV's will be very common in 10 years, as battery technology improves and gets cheaper, more people will turn to retro fitting small cars like Gemini's.
On range, for most people 100k to 150k's is more than enough per day. The controller could be programmed for performance or economy.

100% Torque, 100% of the Time

The Tesla Roadster delivers full availability of performance every moment you are in the car, even while at a stoplight. Its peak torque begins at 0 rpm and stays powerful at 14,000 rpm.

the battery stores enough energy for the vehicle to travel about 220 miles without recharging, something no other production electric vehicle in history can claim.
